Every now and then, we long for the tranquility offered by the province. The city can leave us exhausted and crammed. We have to take a fresh breather, else, we might have to pick up our own bones due to fatigue. Going to the province and basking in the panorama of nature can invigorate our weary bones.

My last visit to the province was a couple months ago. We had to test drive a car, so we rode for five hours before reaching our destination. However, a few weeks ago, our family decided to visit the Divine Mercy Shrine in El Salvador City. It’s a very small city in the province of Misamis Oriental, but it boasts of huge factories and beautiful landscapes. One of these beauties, is the Divine Mercy Shrine.

The 15.24 meter statue can be seen from the national highway. The shrine had a huge, circular parish where masses are held. You have to climb a couple of stairs before reaching the bottom part of the statue, but the climb is worth it. You will be greeted by fresh air, and of course, the abundance of flowers that makes the view priceless.

The trip takes less than 2 hours from Cagayan de Oro City, and less than 20 minutes from Laguindingan International Airport. I would highly recommend the place for tourists who want to see the relaxing sights, at the same time reflect and pray.
